The Grand Hotel

The Grand Hotel was a renowned establishment in Yokohama, Japan. In 1890, the hotel put in a new bar, bringing in Louis Eppinger from Oregon to run it. See Bamboo Cocktail. Under his skilled management, the bar gained an international reputation (particularly for its Dry Martinis) and introduced modern American drink mixing to Japan, which embraced the art and made it its own. See dry.
