The bar meeting

The bar meeting , regular and well run, is an important component for discussing the business matters of the bar as well as creating a cohesive bar program. These allow bartenders (and perhaps the rest of the staff) to agree upon drink recipes and standards of service. Such meetings also allow bar management to explain changes in the menu and offerings. A bar meeting is an opportunity to provide tune-up training as well as hands-on experience with any new products or recipes coming on board.

A “bar meeting” is also bartender’s slang for any given moment behind the bar, usually in the middle of fast-paced service, when the bartenders all agree that it is time take a quick drink together, whether it is a shot of spirits or a short mixed drink. It can be a planned moment or called impromptu by one of the bartenders, and it can also include the rest of the staff.
